Every Lens Will Have A Chance To Shine

Every Squidoo lens will have a chance to shine, even if it’s not in the first weeks, months or even the first year after it has been first published.

A good case in point is Famous People From Bournemouth which has always ranked highly on Google, but which has not had a huge amount of traffic since this is not a really popular topic.

Over the last weekend suddenly the number of visits shot up by around 600 instead of the usual 50 a week, and on investigation this was because of a lot of Google searches for a woman called “Melita Norwood”, who was a spy with the codename “Hola”, and who was born in Bournemouth.  It seems that something must have triggered a lot of searches for her, and my lens showed up even though I only have a small section for her on it.

You just never know what is going to be a popular search, and sometimes the most unlikely topics could result in your lenses generating a lot of traffic.

So far I have no idea why this woman caused a lot of searching, whether it was a news item for example, but it’s a good example of why you should never give up hope of lenses being successful in Squidoo.

This one was ranked about 40,000 last week, now it’s in the 2nd tier.  With luck and a bit of tweaking it might stay there too.

You Would Never Guess Who Has A Connection With Bournemouth?

Famous People From BournemouthWhile most Americans have probably never heard of the Victorian seaside town of Bournemouth, which is on the south coast of England, they just might be surprised at some of the connections that this beautiful place with it’s golden sandy beaches has with some people that they do know.

Have you heard of Jayne Atkinson?  If not, are you familiar with Karen Hayes from the television drama 24?  Jayne plays the part of Karen Hayes, and has also appeared in a number of other television shows and movies, but before her family moved to Hollywood in Florida, she was actually born in Bournemouth.

Now hands up anyone from the USA who hasn’t heard of the name John Wilkes Booth?  I thought so, not a lot of hands going up in the air there.  As we know from the history books, John Wilkes Booth is the man who shot President Abraham Lincoln.  After the assassination of Lincoln, the family was disgraced, and crossed the Atlantic, settling in Bournemouth of all places.

Actor Charles Gray you also might not have heard of, but I am sure you know the villain Blofeld from the James Bond movies.  One and the same person of course.  Charles was born in Bournemouth, and actually went to school with Benny Hill, someone else I am sure you have heard of.

So have I tweaked your curiosity?  There are many other famous people who have a connection with Bournemouth, and believe it or not I struggled to fit them all into a single lens on Squidoo.  I hope you will come pay a visit, the lens is Famous People From Bournemouth.
