Sport Is Good For You

Little League Baseball

There is no doubt that sport is good for you, both physically and mentally. There is something special about playing and participating in sport. What greater gift can you give than introducing someone into sport?

Benefits of playing sports

If you are a parent of young children it is natural to want to look after their health and welfare. Get them interested in sport and you will be providing them with a lifetime of healthy entertainment and sporting activity.

Just consider the benefits:

• increases motor skills
• improves energy levels
• builds strength and stamina
• stimulates the brain
• sociable
• relieves stress
• builds character.

And you are never too old to play sport

It is not only children that can benefit from a new sport. It is just as important for adults to have a social life and regular exercise. Why not join a sports club or local activity center where you can meet like-minded people, and make some new friends.

There is no minimum standard required to play any sport, you just need the motivation to join in. You will find that most sports clubs and centers have sessions geared towards beginners. It might be slightly nerve racking to begin with, but you will also find it an exciting prospect to be taking up a new challenge.

You will find that training courses are carefully tailored to the individual talents of those taking part. In my experience, coaching staff in all sports like nothing better than helping new starters to fall in love with their favorite sport and will help and encourage you all the way. You can have fantastic fun, maintain a good social life, and sport your way to health and fitness at the same time.

Sport is good for you even in your own backyard or garden

If you have your own sports nets and equipment, you can even play and practice sports at home such as tennis, badminton, soccer, baseball and golf to hone your new found sporting skills.  And it goes without saying, there is nothing children like better than spending time playing with their parents.

For me, playing sport is about quality of life. I know of nothing else that will make you feel so good in body and mind than playing sport. So, get involved with sport, help yourself and your family to a better, and perhaps longer life.

Golf is a sport for all generations

Golf is a great sports activity that the whole family can learn and play together whatever their age or ability levels.  What could be better than sharing a sport with your child or grandchild?

Children love to do things with their parents or grandparents, which is the best way to help them to learn something new.  When a child becomes familiar with a new sport or pastime, it provides them with the self confidence and motivation to learn and get better.

The game of golf also has the advantage of providing long lasting health and fitness benefits such as physical exercise, psychological challenge and long-term friendships, which can last a lifetime.

The golf course or golf driving range is the ideal environment for moms and dads or grandparents to have fun with their children/grandchildren, and is not necessarily too expensive as the number of amenities and new golf courses continue to increase.

Just a week ago I was listening to a sports phone-in program on the radio here in the UK when a listener came on to make a point about the cost of seeing top class sport such as Premiership football (soccer).

To keep this story brief, his point was that for the price of taking his son to just one soccer match, he had been able to purchase for him a junior membership for the year at their local golf club, and he is now hooked on playing golf.

Moreover, it is a sport they will be able to play together, and for a long time to come.  Additional costs are starter level golf equipment and a regular supply of golf balls.  Perhaps, golf is a sport for all generations and not too expensive after all.
