WHAT IS SQUIDBLOGS?
Squidblogs is a site where you can freely promote Squidoo lenses (yours or anyone else’s) and also any other related blogs that you have, helping to drive traffic to them.
The links that are on Squidblogs are all DO FOLLOW, so they will create backlinks for you, and the site is also optimized for SEO.
This page has a lot of essential information about Squidblogs. For more in depth information and also for tutorials on how to use WordPress, see the related Squidoo lens on Squidblogs.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO JOIN SQUIDBLOGS?
All Squidoo Lensmasters are welcome to register with Squidblogs.
Please register using your Squidoo Id, so everyone knows who you are, but if you prefer the email address that you use can be different.
HOW DO I GET STARTED ON SQUIDBLOGS?
Having registered with Squidblogs, you will have a status of Contributor. This means that any posts you create will be set to Pending, awaiting approval by an Editor.
You WILL need to let an Editor know that you are active on Squidblogs, and you can do this by sending an email to approve_me@squidblogs.com, making sure to include your lensmaster name.
As soon as your details have been verified, your status will be changed to Author, and you can then post away to your heart’s content.
Squidblogs, like many other sites where multiple users can register, is vulnerable to use by spammers and hackers, which is why there is a need to ensure that only those who are valid lensmasters are able to post articles.
HOW DO I SET UP MY AVATAR
Make sure you have an Avatar set up so people can recognize you. WordPress Avatars are created using the Gravatar site (see link above) and will work for all Gravatar enabled blogs where you are registered using your email address.
PAGES AND POSTS
WordPress allows you to create Pages as well as Posts.
Posts are what you usually use to create updates when blogging, for example to write about your new lenses, or what has sparked your interest today.
Pages are usually static, and should be used for user profiles, or to provide information that does not generally change to visitors.
CREATE YOUR PROFILE ON SQUIDBLOGS
Create your main page to let visitors know who you are. Your page should contain profile information about you, and tell the world who you are.
When creating pages:
- Name your main page the same as your Squidoo Name / Member Id
- Create any additional pages as sub-pages of your main page, so that they are listed under your profile page.
- If you are not sure, you can see examples of these under Pages in the sidebar.
GO AHEAD AND BLOG ABOUT YOUR LENSES
Feel free to write as many blog posts about your lenses or about Squidoo as you like. Each link back to your lenses means a better chance of either your article or your lens being found on the major search engines, and that means TRAFFIC.
Quality is still as important as ever though, so make sure that any posts you create are written with correct spelling, good grammar and a good layout. Feel free to also insert images into your blog posts too.
I will be providing some tutorials on WordPress to help assist those who are struggling, but there are also plenty of resources on the internet, and you can always go back and edit a page or post at any time, so experimenting is a good way to learn.
REVENUE SHARING ON SQUIDBLOGS
The Google Ads are all currently set to the Id of the site owner and there are no plans at this time to incorporate revenue sharing, however this may change in the future, depending on the direction that Squidblogs takes.
There is however no problem with you adding your own Affiliate links in your posts, or in de-selcting the option to include Google adverts and adding your own instead.
PROMOTING SQUIDBLOGS
Please feel free to promote Squidblogs (without spamming) on both Squidoo as well as other sites, as this will help to raise the awareness and popularity of Squidblogs, and in return your lenses.
There are Sharing links for the popular Social Networking sites on each post and also on the RSS Feed (http://www.squidblogs.com/feed/). Please share this site and posts with sites such as Stumbleupon, Digg, Delicious, Facebook etc, as well as adding the RSS Feed to related sites.
All posts on Squidblogs are automatically posted to our Twitter account (Squid_Blogs), so please help to promote Squidblogs by following us on Twitter.
Squidblogs is also a Networked Blog on Facebook, so if you are a Facebook member, don’t forget to sign up with Squidblogs on there also.
Don’t forget that everything that you do to help promote Squidblogs, helps to make your blog posts and your pages on Squidblogs more visible to the world,
BLOG POSTING STANDARDS
Please make sure that you add relevant Categories to your posts. You can add your own Categories if relevant ones do not exist. Also be sure to Tag your posts so that they have a better chance of being found by the search engines. The better your tagging, the more chance of your posts being found.
SPAM AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
Squidblogs has no tolerance for spamming, plagiarism, or illegal or adult content. We believe that there is a far greater marketplace for genuine articles than for junk. Any members who break these rules will be warned, and if this is not heeded, their accounts will be removed.
TROUBLESHOOTING
