Lanzarote Is Definitely Not Grotty!

The Spanish island of Lanzarote is a wonderful place to visit on the extremes of Western Europe. It’s actually closer to the Moroccan coast of Africa than to Spain and along with the other Canary Islands has one of the best climates in the world.

I can never understand why Lanzarote has in the past been referred to as Lanzagrotty.  Perhaps, it’s just a convenient headline, but such headlines stick and can take a long time to erase from the memory banks.

For me, Lanzarote is a great holiday destination with lots to see and do.  It has a colorful history, wonderful beaches and interesting places to visit.  The beaches are as good as any you will find and the volcanic landscape intriguing.

Base yourself at Playa Blanca to the south of the island, but make sure you go exploring.  If willing, take time and visit some of the mountain villages and the stretches of rugged coastline and take in the island’s untamed beauty.

Lanzarote Unpacked reveals the highlights of Lanzarote, and explodes the myth that Lanzarote is inferior in anyway to other islands in the Canaries.  Do yourself a favour and discover this much underrated island.
